Quick memory alternative to hand-crank coil tester avoids windings/fine-wire drawing through a different sensing/source principle, retaining applied-potential realization, leakage measurement, independent references, guarded electrodes and discharge protection. Electrostatic charge-decay method may not meet sustained-voltage, leakage-floor, time-response or caller acceptance demands. Humidity, own leakage, indicator loading and potential calibration unresolved; it is not declared equivalent to a final megohmmeter.
